I saw her eyes peak through
The playground tunnel
“Peek-a-boo!” I said
And she disappeared
So coy I looked inside
And her eyes caught mine
Again, “Peek-a-boo!”
A giggle and she’s gone
Now the game is in full swing
I move to catch her
That pink little thing
I hear a laugh and she’s hiding
My smile is lifting
Her body is shifting
Whose eyes will catch whose?
That is the main of this game
Gotcha! We both laugh
And quickly run away
Her mother calls her
The game has been played
What are you doing?
Asks my mother
Playing! Pointing at that girl
Says my brother
That black girl?
Again, asks my Mother
I didn’t notice a difference
What does it matter?
